He is a habilitation candidate at the University of Passau. He received his PhD with a monograph on the relation between conspiracist ideologies and democracy from the University of Regensburg and has been a visiting lecturer at the Universities of Regensburg and Passau, the Free University of Berlin, and Regensburg University of Applied Sciences.

Over the last years, Stefan Christoph was working on a systematic theory of the interrelations between conspiracism and democracies from a perspective of political theory. With that background, in his current research he is doing comparative studies on the configurations of democracies and conspiracism in European countries and on factors helping individuals to renounce conspiracy theories.
